More about Tony...
This page is provided to give local residents additional information about who I am on a more personal level.

I  was born in Altona and am a third generation local resident.  My Great Uncle, Charlie Fava, was my first relative to settle in Altona - way back in 1914.  From that time, my uncles and aunts migrated to Australia as they saved enough money for the long voyage from Malta as British Subjects.  They all settled in Altona and we're still here!

My mother migrated with her mother and brother when she was 10 years old (1954) and lived in a bungalow at the rear of 77 Esplanade.  They later purchased the house on Blyth St.  My father migrated to Australia from Malta when he was 18 years old (1961) and settled in Altona too.  Mum and Dad met in Altona and married at St. Mary's Altona in June 1963.  They built a house on Delmont Ave, Altona West and we moved to Civic Parade in 1980.  They had 6 children and we had a wonderful childhood.  We're still all very close.  Family get-togethers are frequent and very large affairs.

I work for the Commonwealth, am a Justice of the Peace and a Bail Justice.  I was also a foster carer from 1996 to 2010, and have a son I am very proud of.  He is a third year apprentice in horticulture.  I feel confident that he is going to grow to be a very decent, hard-working, independent and happy man.

I am very passionate about our community and represent all areas in Hobsons Bay extremely well - as my history proves.  I have worked tirelessly on many issues in Altona, and have represented Altona Ward residents at VCAT and in the Council on a number of planning issues.  Additionally, I have strong ties to Altona (more so than any other Ward in Hobsons Bay) because that's where I grew up, went to school, and own a house.  That's why I asked to be filmed at the Altona Beach the two times I appeared on 60 Minutes, and why I always go to the beach whenever I need to "think".

I enjoy representing the community on council and am always keen to ensure respect for residents, traders and community groups, our environment, our history and our future is the cornerstone of every decision council makes.

If you would like to read more about me, the following article discusses my life and history with a genetic condition, the way it was mistreated by the medical profession, and how I moved on despite of it:  (Click here to read the article about me in The Age).
